Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Equine Management

The Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Equine Management is designed to provide students with skills and a vocational qualification so they can work within the equine industry. A Level 2 Technical Certificate in Horse Care is needed to apply for this course.

Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Equine Management (540) (1st year)

  • For those age 16+
  • Programme runs from September to July
  • Full time, minimum 17 ½ hours per week
  • Riding and non riding option

  • Principles of health and safety
  • Undertake and review work-related experience in the land-based industries
  • Undertake stable yard operations
  • Equine health
  • Horse tack and equipment
  • Biological systems of horses
  • Prepare horses for presentation
  • Equine feeding and nutrition
  • Horse behaviour and welfare

Entry Requirements

  • Evidence of horse care experience required to meet a standard of a Level 2 candidate by a skills test
  • A minimum of Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths, or GCSEs 4 or above in English and Maths, plus two other GCSEs at 4 or above
  • Candidates must have significant experience with horses
